Marlin 70PSS (Papoose)

Description

The Marlin Model 70PSS (or Papoose) is a semi-automatic rifle chambered in .22 LR. The Model 70PSS is one of eight Marlin autoloading .22 rimfire rifles, but differs from Marlin’s standard .22, the Model 60, in that it has a stainless steel barrel and receiver, weighs about 2 pounds less, and uses a box magazine instead of a tubular one. It is also supposed to be easy to disassemble.

The Model 70PSS features a 16.25″ barrel that has undergone Marlin’s Micro-groove rifling, which carves 16 grooves into the bore. The Model 70PSS offers a black fiberglass-filled synthetic stock with molded checkering. The Model 70PSS has a patented “last shot” bolt hold-open system, meaning the bolt will be held in the rearward open position after the final spent casing is ejected. The nickel-plated magazine holds 7 rounds and the rifle is equipped with an open rear sight and a front ramp sight and Wide-Scan brand hood.

Marlin recommends the Model 70PSS for hunting small game and target shooting. With its quick and simple disassembly and carrying case, it is ideal for situations in which space is at a premium.
