Ruger Mark III Competition

The Ruger Mark III Competition is a semi-automatic large-frame pistol chambered in .22 LR. The Mark III Competition is one of five economical sporting pistols in Ruger’s Mark III Series and they look similar to the Luger, a German military pistol. Similar to the Target model, the Competition has a heavy bull barrel, however, it is slightly different in design. The Mark III Competition uses a slab-sided bull barrel, meaning a bull barrel with flat sides (to reduce weight up front).

Bull barrels have little or no taper, and
generally have a thicker, heavier construction. The heavy barrel is
able to withstand many successive shots, and Competition shooters often
favor the heavy barrel’s steadying weight.

The Mark III is blowback operated, meaning the initial explosion of the cartridge
powers the cycling. It uses an internal cylindrical bolt for its action.
How it’s different from a standard design is it recoils out of the
pistol instead of pushing a slide back.

The Mark III Competition features stainless steel construction and includes a 6.88″ long barrel. The Mark III Competition is equipped with a loaded chamber indicator that offers both visual (red mark) and tactile (protruding notch) indicators. The Mark III Competition also has a fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight. Additional features include checkered cocobolo grips and a thumb rest. A magazine disconnect feature prohibits the gun from firing when the magazine is released. The Mark III Competition includes two 10-round magazines and a hard plastic case.

Ruger recommends the Mark III Competition for competition shooting.
