Description

The Ruger New Model Blackhawk Blued is a large-frame single-action revolver chambered in .30 Carbine, .357 Mag., .41 Mag., .44 Special, and .45 Colt. Ruger introduced the Blackhawk in the mid-1950s because cowboy movies were growing in popularity in turn so were cowboy pistols. At first, Ruger introduced its rimfire revolver, the Single-Six Revolver, but after awhile the public wanted something a little more comparable in size and caliber to the famous Colt Single Action Army (aka the Peacemaker), so Ruger introduced the Blackhawk.

The name "New Model" is a reference to its transfer bar, which is a safety feature that allows users to carry the weapon fully loaded because the bar blocks the hammer from striking the firing pin if the weapon is dropped.

The New Model Blackhawk Blued features a blued alloy steel construction and is available in barrel lengths of 4.62", 5.5", 6.5", and 7.5". The New Model Blackhawk Blued is equipped with an adjustable rear sight (for wind and elevation), a ramp front sight, black checkered rubber grips, and a 6-round cylinder. The New Model Blackhawk Blued also has a western-style grip, which has a very defined curve and is easy to grasp.
