Ruger New Model Super Blackhawk Hunter

The Ruger New Model Superhawk Hunter is a large-frame single-action revolver chambered in .44 Mag. or .44 Special. The Super Blackhawk Hunter has a similar design to the standard New Model Blackhawk, a model designed after Colt’s Peacemaker, except it’s chambered for a powerful magnum cartridge–that’s the difference. What makes the Hunter models unique is that they’re equipped with integral scope mounts and also come with scope rings.

Its name “New Model” is a reference to its transfer bar, which is a safety feature that allows users to carry the weapon fully loaded because the bar blocks the hammer from striking the firing pin if the weapon is dropped.

The New Model Superhawk Hunter features a stainless steel construction and a barrel length of  7.5″. The New Model Superhawk Hunter is equipped with a rear sight that’s adjustable for wind and elevation, and a ramp front sight. The New Model Superhawk Hunter also includes western-style wood laminate grips and an unfluted 6-round cylinder. The New Model Superhawk Hunter allows dual chambering, meaning .44 Mag. cylinders also accept .44 Special cartridges.

Ruger recommends the Super Blackhawks for hunting big game.
