Safety should be paramount when people go out shooting. This is because this particular sport involves the use of guns, some of which are highly dangerous. In fact at all times when the weapon is being carried and isn’t being used point it in a direction considered to be safe. Most will tell you to point the gun towards the ground and away from your body. Certainly when carrying a rifle to further ensure that the risk of it accidentally firing is to open up the chamber and remove any magazine. 

When it actually comes to shooting at something it is important that you make sure that you have a firm idea of the area in which you intend to aim before committing to firing a shot.  Also it is important that you should never shoot at anything that is floating on or slightly above water, or where the object in question is sitting on a flat hard surface. Remember the risk of bullets ricocheting off at an angle that is dangerous when they come into contact with the surface is high.

When you go shooting it is important that you wear the appropriate type of clothing and safety equipment.  For those who are off hunting, it is important that you wear a highly visible hunter’s orange colored jacket, hat and other clothing  so others out for the shoot will instantly see you. However, if you are intending to go shooting at your local gun club or out on a hunt then make sure that you wear a good set of goggles (safety glasses) and also some ear plugs to protect your hearing. Most people, when they attend their local gun club, tend to use headphones rather than ear plugs to provide their hearing with protection from the loud sounds created as the bullets are fired.
