Glock

Glock is an Austria-based weapon manufacturer famous for its line of striker-fire pistols. Glock handguns are a favorite of law enforcement and militaries around the globe, particularly in the United States. Civilians are also quick to turn to the company for personal protection and recreational shooting. Little known fact, the company also manufacturers two models of knives and an entrenching tool.

Glock's popularity among both law enforcement and civilians can be traced to several factors. Glock's are considered reliable due to a relatively simple design. Glock handguns contain very few components and the simple design allows for easy maintenance and repair. Glock handguns can fire a wide range of ammunition types such as 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP and .357 SIG, among others. Glock's are also thought to perform well in extreme weather.

The polymer frame is the signature feature of Glock pistols. This makes a Glock lighter than the steel or aluminum frames used in typical handguns, which is desirable for law enforcement or those who carry a handgun on them throughout the day. Glock handguns do not have manual safeties. In replace of it, the gun has three internal safeties, which are deactivated when the unique "safe-action" trigger is pulled. This feature means Glocks will not fire if the gun is dropped.
