Kel-Tec
Kel-Tec is a Florida-based firearms manufacturer that was founded in 1991. Starting with a base of small and affordable semi-automatic
pistols, the company has grown into the third largest
handgun maker in the United States. Kel-Tec now also manufacturers a line of
rifles and the
KSG 12 gauge pump-action
shotgun.
In 2006, Kel-Tec revealed the
PF-9 pistol. The flat 9mm semi-automatic gun is based on the earlier
P-11 and
P-3AT designs. It is or was once considered to be the thinnest and lightest 9 mm pistol ever mass-produced and sold commercially. In 2009, the company began to distribute its series of "High-Efficiency Rifles" called the
RFB. The gas-operated semi-automatic rifle is chambered in 7.62 NATO and is grouped with other Bullpup rifles. The patented forward-ejection system on the firearm makes it easier for left-handed shooters to use.
The company remains privately owned, and is helmed by Swedish engineer George Kellgren.
