"I have a first-generation Sig 226 and it's the same way, except of course with the addition of an exposed hammer. I suppose it's the same mindset that would advise to carry a piece with a round in the chamber. Me, I would actually like a safety feature of some kind on a firearm just as a last chance kind of thing... after all, dead is forever an accidents happen.

"There's a reason the US Army went with the Beretta. One thing I love about them is the way the entire breech is exposed with the slide open, making it stupid-simple to clear a jam. I don't have one yet myself but I think if I did I'd opt for the 93 in .40 Smith; talk about a reliable man-stopper!
