So you are looking at investing money in a Winchester rifle? Then it is important that you make sure that your weapon remains secure when not in use, so you must invest money in a gun safe in which it can be stored.

However as you will soon discover not all gun safes are created equal. So below we take a look at the kinds of features your safe should come with for helping to ensure that your Winchester rifle is secure.

Feature 1 – You need to look at how the safe will be secured to the surface where it is to be located. The best types of safes for keeping guns in are those that need to be bolted to a cement floor. If a burglar is intending to steal weapons from your home they will bring the necessary equipment that will allow them to carry the weapons from your home in the safe. Then they can spend all the time in the world forcing it open in a location that they are secure. But of course if the safe is bolted to a cement floor this won’t happen.

Feature 2 – The next thing to look for is that the safe comes with any kind of alarm system fitted.  The majority of safes used for holding weapons including those made by Winchester will have an alarm fitted that goes off automatically should someone attempt to break into it. If you have a safe that is bolted to the floor and fitted with an alarm, this places more pressure on the “would  be” thief to attempt to get into before the alarm is set of. But in most cases you will find that this is an extremely strong deterrent to prevent them even attempting to get into your gun safe.

Feature 3 – Another important feature to be looking at when it comes to purchasing a safe into which any weapons you own are to be kept is the kind of housing around the lock.  What you want is the kind of housing that protects the lock. If you can opt for the kinds of housings made up of two thick metal plates between which ball bearings have been placed, or the kind where the plat has been angled. Both of these types of housings for locks will prevent a “would be” thief from using a drill to try and break the lock. Guns.

Feature 4 – As well as looking at the lock housing, check to see if the gun safe for your Winchester has been fitted with a mechanism known as a relocker. This particular device has been designed so that if the lock is broken open it will immediately close again. Although this mechanism won’t protect what is contained within the safe forever it will make the whole process of breaking into the gun safe for any burglar much more complicated. It really acts as a great deterrent as most burglars who tend to be opportunistic will give up rather than try for longer if the possibility of them being caught in the act of stealing is increased.
