The Winchester Model 1866 Yellowboy was the first true cowboy lever-action rifle and Cimarrons 1866 Yellowboy family of rifles faithfully reproduces the rifle favored by Sitting Bull and by the Turkish Army in their fight against Russia in the 1870s. This family of rifles is highly diverse in terms of the specs of the blued barrel and in the ammunition used. The 1866 Yellowboy earned their nickname from the brass frame. These rifles have an all walnut stock.
Originally known as the Improved Henry due to its patented loading gate on the side of the frame designed by Nelson King Winchesters plant superintendant and the addition of a wood forearm the 1866 model was known as the Yellow Boy by the Native Americans because of its brass frame. The 66 model was the first true cowboy lever-action and the first that adapted well to carrying in a saddle scabbard due to its slab sided design. With over 170000 made between 1866-1898--its popularity continued long after more powerful lever guns were introduced. The 66 model was famous worldwide with guns used by the forces of Benito Juarez in Mexico the Turkish army in their fight against the Russians and in the Wild West by such notables as Sioux Medicine Man Sitting Bull the Union Pacifics chief engineer General Grenville Dodge and desperado Bill Doolin. - Cimarron offers several 1866 Yellowboys such as the 24-inch barreled Sporting Rifle a 20-inch Short Rifle (both of these models sport octagon barrels) round barreled carbines including the 19-inch saddle ring carbine a brass tack-decorated 19-inch Indian carbine and a 16-inch Trapper model. Shopping at Guns.com gives you the backing of a company that is committed to your satisfaction. And unlike our competitors, it extends beyond the buying process. We get the FFL from your store – others make you find it, copy it, and fax it. We have a generous return policy, and handle everything – you don’t have to go back to the store. And our Rangemasters are here to answer all your questions about our products or process. We're bringing a level of service to the online gun buying experience that is unheard of.
Many online gun sales actually take away from your local community. Instead of buying a gun that’s on your local store’s shelf, most retailers drop ship it from a warehouse in another state. At Guns.com, if an FFL is part of our network, we sell THEIR guns first whenever possible. That way, we’re helping small businesses in your community AND if they have it in stock, you can pick your gun up IMMEDIATELY – it’s how business should be done.
Most everything can be easily bought online these days. But for some reason, buying a gun online can be complicated. Most websites are poorly organized, don’t tell you a lot about what you’re buying, and leave you on your own to figure out what you want. Guns.com is built to be simple – easily organized products, useful descriptions from experts, and support to guide you to the right choice. Spend your time enjoying the gun you want, not getting frustrated with a complex website that makes gun buying hard.
