Action Lever - Caliber 45 Colt - Capacity 10 - Material Steel - Finish Brushed Polish - Stock Black Walnut - Sights Brass Bead Semi-Buckhorn - Twist 26 - Barrel Length 20 - Overall Length 37.5 - Weight 6 lb - It is considered by many as the smoothest most compact handiest and most beautiful lever action ever offered by Winchester. The Model 1892 (or The 92 as most of us call it) was Winchesters follow-up to the amazing Model 1886. The 86 was designed for large huntingmilitary calibers of the 1800s like 45-70. Soon after its development the call went out for a new (but more compact) lever rifle suitable for pistol calibers. Soon John Moses Browning produced the Model 1892 prototype for Winchester -- and the rest is history. This Model 92 Short Rifle is in a classic round barrel configuration in two excellent calibers -- the 357 is suitable for hunting and Cowboy Action duties while the 44 Rem. Mag. makes its mark as a great caliber for hunting in brushy conditions with fast moving game. Attention to detail is something you will notice like the one-piece steel crescent buttplate just like the originals and a Marbles gold bead front sight that adds a dose of traditional class. This rifle features a convenient rear tang safety -- but dont despair companies (like Marbles) offers one made to fit should you desire to add a tang sight later. Not many firearm models today can boast of having had over one million produced. The Winchester Model 1892 very similar in construction to the Winchester Model 1886 is one of these famous lever-action rifles. It is much like a compact or carbine model of the famous 1886 and has the same dual vertical locking system for impressive strength. Many of its components have been scaled down and simplified to handle the smaller calibers and here is where this nostalgic rifle shines. It is famous for its light weight low recoil and responsive easy handling. It displays a genius of design that makes it a modern-day treasure. The Winchester Model 1892 features a beautifully finished walnut stock blued barrel and receiver finely fit with precision and pride. From year to year Winchester Repeating Arms introduces new models and versions of the Model 1892. Your dealer may have both the current model of the year and other previous year models in his or her inventory. An internet search is a key tool when locating these special rifles which are commonly made in very limited manufacturing runs.

Shopping at Guns.com gives you the backing of a company that is committed to your satisfaction. And unlike our competitors, it extends beyond the buying process. We get the FFL from your store – others make you find it, copy it, and fax it. We have a generous return policy, and handle everything – you don’t have to go back to the store. And our Rangemasters are here to answer all your questions about our products or process. We're bringing a level of service to the online gun buying experience that is unheard of.
Many online gun sales actually take away from your local community. Instead of buying a gun that’s on your local store’s shelf, most retailers drop ship it from a warehouse in another state. At Guns.com, if an FFL is part of our network, we sell THEIR guns first whenever possible. That way, we’re helping small businesses in your community AND if they have it in stock, you can pick your gun up IMMEDIATELY – it’s how business should be done.
Most everything can be easily bought online these days. But for some reason, buying a gun online can be complicated. Most websites are poorly organized, don’t tell you a lot about what you’re buying, and leave you on your own to figure out what you want. Guns.com is built to be simple – easily organized products, useful descriptions from experts, and support to guide you to the right choice. Spend your time enjoying the gun you want, not getting frustrated with a complex website that makes gun buying hard.
