The SIG Sauer 556 is the semi-automatic variant of the SG 550, a Swiss battle rifle chambered in 5.56x45mm (5.56 NATO). It differs from the original with its aluminum lower receiver that accepts M16 magazines. This rifle’s several variants offer top Picatinny rails, Magpul PRS stocks, and match triggers. A pistol variant with a 10 inch barrel is also available, as is the Russian variant which is chambered in 7.62×39mm.
