The semi-automatic Remington Nylon 66 is one of the first mass-produced rifles with a stock made from a material other than wood. It was advertised as never needing cleaning or oiling even after hundreds of rounds of firing, a characteristic that made it popular in arctic regions. This plinking rifle features a shark fin front sight and adjustable rear sight, Schnabel-style nylon stock, and an easy-to-feed 14 round tubular magazine. It is available in several variants, which are usually distinguishable from one another by the colors of their stocks, receivers, and barrels.
