Maggie Reese Nabs Back to Back Titles at the Multi-Gun National Championships

LAS VEGAS, Nevada—California’s Maggie Reese can now boast the title of repeat champion of the Women’s Open division title which she won at the U.S. Practical Shooting Association 2010 Multi-Gun National Championships. Reese of Team Surefire finished the match with a score of 1272.8205—155 points ahead of the second place Vinky Castillo who scored 1117.8194.

The annual showdown took place from September 10-12 at the Desert Sportsman’s Rifle & Pistol Club in Las Vegas. After her win, Reese spoke with members of the press and pointed out that “Multi-Gun competition is challenging because it requires you to shoot at your best with three different firearms” to which USPSA president Michael Voigt responded to reporters, “That’s exactly what Maggie did. As the defending champion, she attacked the course and shot well across all three platforms to once again claim the title.”

Reese took six of the twelve shooting stages. Coming out literally with guns blazing, Reese had a strong start, easily taking the first two stages of the match but relinquishing her lead in the third stage to last year’s runner-up, Vinky Castillo who shot for three unanswered wins.  Reese shot back on the sixth stage and found the lead with her win on the seventh. Stages ten and eleven saw Reese widen the gap considerably between she and Castillo which ultimately led to her securing the repeat Women’s Open division title.
