Steven Segal Is: Hudspeth County Sheriff's Border Patrol Deputy

Steven Segal’s asked to join the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s department to patrol the borders.  Hudspeth’s in a high-crime part of Texas that is well-trafficked by drug and people smugglers.  This may not be a publicity stunt.  Maybe.

“Seagal has been a trained peace officer for more than 20 years, and has experience working with other sheriff’s departments on his A&E Network show ‘Steven Seagal: Lawman’.” Lawman is about Segal’s work with the Louisiana police.  He was a reserve deputy sheriff there for twenty years before making the A&E series, which was intended to shine on the Jefferson Parish sherriff’s work and conduct following Hurricane Katrina.  He was eventually suspended after charges of sexual trafficking were brought against him (and later dropped).

“The Hudspeth County department says a similar reality show is not currently in the works.

“‘Mr. Seagal is not in this for the celebrity or publicity,’ Sheriff Arvin West told Reuters. ‘He has a sincere passion for his country and he wants to do more to help. I think he will make a significant contribution to this office and to our community.'”

Seen here is Segal swearing in as a deputee and showing remarkable trigger discipline:

Other things you might not know include that Segal is a musician, and has laid down tracks for several movies that he’s produced, is a buddist and participates in the Tibetan independence movement, founded an orphanage in Bangkok, and has several product lines marketed in his image: a homeopathic massage oil, a healthy energy drink, and for a time a cologne, Scent of Action.
