Andrew Breitbart Makes Crazy Gun Comments

Conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart (of reminds me of a whiny child at times.

Come to think of it, most talking heads – whether they are liberal or conservative – remind me of whiny children.  And like whiny children, they’re prone to saying stupid things from time to time.

Back in September, speaking at a Tea Party meeting in Massachusetts, Breitbart stuck his foot in his mouth with the following admission:

“I’m under attack all the time,” he said. “They call me gay. There are death threats… There are times when I’m not thinking as clearly as I should, and in those unclear moments, I always think to myself, ‘Fire the first shot. Bring it on.’ Because I know who’s on our side.

“They can only win a rhetorical and propaganda war. They cannot win. We outnumber them in this country and we have the guns… I’m not kidding. They talk a mean game, but they will not cross that line because they know what they’re dealing with. ”

Breitbart added that “major named people in the military” will sometimes “grab” him and say, “Thank you for what you’re doing, we’ve got your back.”

If you watch the video, there’s definitely a violent subtext to what he’s saying.  It’s evident that, sometimes, he secretly wishes to engage in a violent battle with liberals.

Okay, I suppose I can understand that to some extent.  Sometimes, I secretly wish to engage in a violent battle with my archenemies: zombies.

But for Breitbart to admit his addled thoughts and desires publicly shows a clear lack in judgment.  Or, it’s a deliberate attempt to incite the tempers of like-minded people.

Either way, it makes him look like a desperate fool.

The truth is violence is not the answer to joblessness, our debt crisis, or to some wastrel calling you a bad name.

The only way we’re going to fix this country is if we check our egos at the door, put special interests aside, and engage
in rational, fact-based discourse.  And even the mere implication of violence derails our ability to do this.

(As far as the zombies are concerned, well, I’m not sure they’re capable of responding to rational fact-based discourse.)

Plus, I hate the whole “we have the guns” line Breitbart uses.  Does Breitbart even own a gun?  Does he go shooting regularly?

I hate when people try to curry favor with a community they don’t belong to.  I feel like saying, “Hey Breitbart, we have the guns, you’re just an idiot with a website and a loud mouth.”
