ATK Announces Contract with the Department of Homeland Security

On Monday, ammunition manufacturer ATK announced that they would be supplying .40 caliber ammunition to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

ATK was the existing supplier for DHS, who used the HST bullet. The HST hollow point has been proven to pass through a variety of barriers and hold its jacket in tough conditions, the bullet is designed for 100 percent weight retention, avoids penetration and limits collateral damage.

The contract has a base of one year, but could be extended up to four years and a maximum of 450 million rounds of ammunition.

“We are proud to extend our track record as the prime supplier of .40 caliber duty ammunition for DHS, ICE,” said ATK Security and Sporting group president Ron Johnson. “The HST is a proven design that will continue to serve those who keep our borders safe.”
