NSSF Study Shows Youth Eagerness to Learn About Shooting and Hunting

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has released a study in conjunction the Hunting Heritage Trust showing that shows an interest in shooting sports among youth and a high impact of peer influence on youth participation in hunting and the shooting sports.

NSSF’s director of industry research and analysis, Jim Curcuruto, said “This study shows us that today’s youth that hunt and target shoot are important role models to other youth that have yet to participate in these activities. What they say about hunting and shooting and how they conduct themselves reflect on those activities and can have an effect on whether their peers will participate in them.

It was also revealed that youth have a curiosity about shooting sports and want to learn more about them. Those who do not already participate in the shooting sports were asked if they would accept an invitation to try. If the percentages from the study were applied to the entire United States, 23 million youth ages to 8 to 17 would like to hunt and 27 million youth would target shoot if invited in the next 12 months.
