Crimson Trace Announces Lightguard for 1911 Platform Pistols

Crimson Trace announced today that in May they will be shipping a powerful, 100-lumen light for the 1911 handgun platform.

The light will be designed off of Crimson Trace’s innovative Lightguard™ platform that has proven popular for polymer handguns. The new light will offer the same benefits of instinctive activation, seamless frame integration and simple installation that consumers have come to expect from the Lightguard™ line. The 1911 Lightguard is no wider than the pistol and is shorter than the dust cover, giving the pistol a form factor that is still easy to holster, conceal and carry. It may be used as a standalone unit of in conjunction with Crimson Trace Lasergrips™. The light is activated by a pressure point on the front of the pistol’s grip, just under the trigger guard, and will turn on when the firearm is held in a firing grip. The Lightguard runs on one CR2 battery that gives the light two hours of run time and may be deactivated using a master on/off switch.

Crimson Trace is currently working with major holster manufacturers to ensure that a number of leather and kydex options will be available to carry Lightguard-equipped 1911s. The new 1911 Lightguard has an MSRP of $199 and will be on display at the NRA Annual Meetings in St. Louis, MO April 13-15, 2012.
