After an explosion of media attention over Ted Nugent’s controversial comments about President Barack Obama and the ramifications that the aging rocker faced, the NRA decided to remove the video of him making his infamous statements at the NRA show, which caught the attention of the U.S. Secret Service, from its Youtube channel.
Although Nugent met with agents from the Secret Service earlier today and the investigation has since been dropped, one can only speculate that the NRA wanted to remove the diatribe because it, although carried the same message–vote Obama out of office–as all the other speeches at the show, used more colorful language to convey it and they didn’t want to be associated with that. Guns.com contacted the NRA (as did other media outlets) but the organization did not comment on the situation.
However, the left-wing website RightWingWatch.org preserved some of the video and pretty much had a field day with it on its Youtube channel.
The most engaging comments were:
It isn’t the enemy that ruined America. It’s good people that bent over and let the enemy in. If the coyotes in your living room pissing on your couch, it’s not the coyotes fault, it’s your fault for not shooting him.
I’ll tell you this right now, if Barack Obama becomes the president in November, again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.
And,
If you take that adamant, we the people defiance, remember we’re Americans because we defied the king. We didn’t negotiate and compromise with the king, we defied the emperors, we are patriots, we are brave heart, we need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November.
Although, Nugent’s comments could be considered edgy or transgressive, they were neither his harshest nor most direct words toward Obama. Nugent once, while touting two AKs at a concert in 2008, told Obama, who was not present, to suck on his machine gun.
Nugent said, after meeting with the Secret Service, as captured by WND, “By no stretch of the imagination did I threaten anyone’s life, or hint at violence or mayhem. Metaphors needn’t be explained to educated people.”
Also, the Secret Service said they won’t be looking further into this incident. Hopefully, as the media frenzy dies down, so will overreactions to off-the-cuff political comments. Then again there’s still six months and a half months until the elections, so don’t hold your breath.
There are only a few things that get me truly excited as an absolute precision-rifle junkie, and the American-made Steiner Optics T6Xi 5-30x56 riflescope is one of those things.
We got a sneak peek at Taran Tactical Innovations’ Pit Viper – a $7,000 custom-built ultimate 2011 – from the “John Wick: Chapter 4” movie set to release in March 2023.
Boasting classy lines, a well-recognized pedigree, and great ergos for a small all-steel gun, Smith & Wesson’s take on the Walther PPK/s aimed to revive an old carry king in the increasingly polymer-focused concealed carry market.
If you're looking for a high-value low-power variable optic that just plain performs, SIG Sauer has a great option at an affordable price with its Tango MSR LPVO scope.
