US Self Defense Expert Tim Larkin Banned in the UK

American self defense expert Tim Larkin has been banned from entering the UK.

Larkin shows off self defense techniques on his website and through his book, “How to Survive the Most Critical 5 Seconds of Your Life.” So, why’re the Brits getting in a huff over Larkin, when there are undoubtedly plenty of self defense trainers in the UK?

Well, what makes Larkin stand apart is that he teaches a kill-or-be-killed mentality. He doesn’t go for a “this is how you disoriented an attacker so you can run away,” he’s more into “this is what you do to break your attacker’s neck.” Now, don’t get us wrong — we’re not saying that Larkin is teaching people how to be murderous street assassins, we’re just pointing out that his training acknowledges that in rare situations you’ll have to take your attacker’s life if you want to keep on living. His training shows you how to do that, if necessary.

Larkin was due to hop on a plane and fly to Birmingham to speak at a Martial Arts Show, but the British were having none of that. Security stopped him in the airport and explained that he wasn’t allowed in. A statement issued by the UK Home Office read, “The home secretary will seek to exclude an individual if she considers that his or her presence in the UK is not conducive to the public good.” That certainly isn’t flattering but that’s still not too bad. Well, listen to this: Parliament member Rosie Cooper said, “He teaches extreme and violent self-defense that is unwelcome [in Britain].”

Larkin claims that his teachings have been mischaracterized by the media, which has earned him an unfairly bad reputation. His website reiterates, “violence is rarely the answer, but when it is, it is the only answer.”
