Batman Star Christian Bale Visits Victims of Aurora Theater Shooting

ABC News reports that Christian Bale, the real-world secret identity of Batman, recently visited some of the hospitalized victims of the Aurora theater shooting.

Adopting the cloak of stealth and some of the sneaky tactics that his crime-fighting alter ego so often uses, Christian Bale quietly made an appearance at the Medical Center of Aurora. When he arrived, he specifically asked hospital staff not to alert the media, but Twitter and Facebook kind of foiled that plan when excited hospital staff and patients began posting pictures of Bale online.

Bale spent two-and-a-half hours visiting with doctors, responders, and five of the victims who had been shot at the theater, along with two other patients who were brought in from another hospital. Bill Voloch, the interim president of the hospital, said “It was good for the patients. We hope it was therapeutic for them, and all the staff really appreciated him coming.”

Bale released a statement earlier this weekend saying, “Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.” By backing up those words with this morale-boosting appearance, Bale proved that you don’t have to have a bulletproof combat suit and the Batmobile in order act like a hero.
