The Case that Transforms Your iPhone into a 650,000-Volt Stun Gun (VIDEO)

Indiegogo featured the new Yellow Jacket, an iPhone case that doubles as a 650,000-volt stun gun.

Inventor Seth Froom got the idea for the Yellow Jacket case after he was the victim of a home robbery. Froom was a gun owner and also had a stun gun nearby, but in crisis moments like these, self-defense weapons that are out of reach may as well be a million miles away.

This traumatic experience gave Froom the idea to combine a stun gun with a phone, the only object that everybody seems to keep nearby at all times. Thus was born the Yellow Jacket case for the iPhone 4 and 4S, which can unleash a paralyzing 650,000-volt charge of electricity into your attacker.

You’re probably envisioning a horrifying scene of you going to answer your phone and shocking your own face with half a million volts of electricity, but don’t worry — the Yellow Jacket has a few security measures that should prevent those kinds of mishaps. It’s got a safety switch, and there is a rotating cap that blocks the electrodes. The manufacturers claim that both of these safety measures can be disabled in under a second.

The case look a little bit bulky in the pictures, but it’s really not that bad. The case increases the thickness of your iPhone to 1 inch total, and it adds 3/8 of an inch to your phone’s height. The case also doubles the weight of the phone up to 8 ounces. It isn’t exactly sleek, but at least it’s not quite as bulky as that massive bulletproof iPhone case.

We’re all familiar with the old phrase, “It’s better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.” Well, the Yellow Jacket will also be handy during the 99% of the time when you have it, but don’t need it. Those 650,000 volts will supercharge your iPhone by adding 20 additional hours of battery life.

The Yellow Jacket will hit the market at about $125, but you can knock that price down to $100 by preordering one. The manufacturers also plan to develop cases for the iPhone 5, HTC Evo, and Samsung Galaxy phones, so self-defense fans who haven’t bought into the Apple craze won’t be left out in the cold.
