Ruger's USA Shooting Team 10/22 Takedown

Ruger in cooperation with TALO Distributors has put together a special limited edition 10/22 Takedown to celebrate and support the Olympic USA Shooting Team.

Just 5,000 of these rifles will be made, but Ruger will be donating $20 of each rifle sold to the USA Shooting Team, and they will have their own unique serial numbers, GOLD-0001 to GOLD-5000.

“We are proud to team up with TALO to support the USA Shooting Team,” said Ruger Vice President Chris Killoy. “Every person that buys this rifle will be part of a team contributing $100,000 to support USA Olympic Shooters, and we’re excited that Ruger and our popular 10/22 Takedown rifle are part of this patriotic fundraising effort.”

The USA Shooting Team rifle is functionally identical to the standard 10/22 Takedown, weighing in 4.67 pounds with an 18.5-inch barrel. It uses a gold bead front sight and accepts all 10/22 magazines.

It uses the same takedown system as well, which is a very robust and, in the best Ruger style, overbuilt. The 10/22 uses a locking lug system as opposed to a screw-in barrel. This has several advantages, including being easier and faster to disassemble, but also it’s less prone to wear while simultaneously locking up tightly.

The 10/22 Takedown is drilled and tapped for optics and includes a Weaver-style rail for glass. Because of the locking-lug takedown system, the rifle will maintain its zero even after multiple breakdowns and assemblies.

Like most TALO Distributors’ special editions we expect this rifle to command a price premium, probably selling for around $350. It’s currently shipping to retailers and should be available soon if not right now.
