Greg Jordan Takes First in AR15.com ProAm 3-Gun Shooting Competition

It looks like we’ve got a new name in the shooting world. Greg Jordan, one of Team FNH USA’s newest shooters, trumped 235 competitors at the 2012 AR15.com ProAm 3-Gun Championship. The competition was presented by Brownells and Hornady, and Jordan’s top $5,000 prize came courtesy of Surefire.

Want to know Jordan’s recipe for success? Jordan points to a dedicated training regimen and his solidly reliable gear. He said, “In a short, fast match like the ProAm, a little two-second malfunction can cost you the match. My FNH USA SCAR and SLP performed flawlessly all weekend, which allowed me to focus on shooting without the worry if my gear would run.”

Don’t think that Jordan’s performance is a fluke – he consistently shoots high scores in other competitions. Following the match, Jordan defeated Pro Tour marksmen Tyler Payne, Keith Garcia and Jerry Miculek to win his first shoot-off.

Greg JordanWith shooting like that, Jordan should be able to lead his FNH USA teammates, Mark Hanish and Erik Lund, to victory. They each took 24th and 38th places in the ProAm competition, respectively.

Jordan actually has rather humble beginnings in professional shooting. A lifetime marksman, it wasn’t until 2007 when his father invited him to an event that he discovered a love of 3-gun competition shooting. That just goes to show you – you could be a competition-level shooter and not even realize it. You won’t ever know until you pick up your gun, write your name on the sign-in sheet, and try your hand at that fat first-place check.

If you missed the AR15.com ProAm shooting event you’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for it next year. Located at the Rockcastle Shooting Center in McLean, VA (FNH is based in McLean), this quickly-growing event has become a highlight in summer shooting. Shooters compete in two different sets of stages – one for amateurs and one for professionals. It also gives gun lovers an opportunity to meet up with sponsors and manufacturers, play with the latest and greatest toys, and show newcomers (like Jordan five years ago) the excitement of 3-gun shooting.
