Steyr's back! Win an AUG A3 at the 2012 Bullpup Shoot

Steyr Arms is currently distributing the first batch of new Steyr AUG A3 rifles manufactured in the Trussville, Ala., built with both U.S.-made parts as well as with Steyr’s famous Austrian cold hammer-forged barrels and tulip-style muzzle break.

People who have placed pre-orders for these new AUG A3 bullpups have reserved the entire first batch of rifles, which are currently shipping to dealers. But you don’t have to wait if you want to lay hands on one if you go to the 2012 Bullpup Shoot late this month in Park City, Ky. Steyr is one of the sponsors of this year’s Bullpup Shoot and will be bringing guns and hosting a special training session with Wes Doss of the Kyber Interactive Associates company.

Steyr will also be providing ammunition for shooters who make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project. They will also have a drawing at the end of the Bullpup Shoot and the winner gets to go home with a shiny (matte black) new AUG A3.

Doss is a shooting expert with decades of military and local law enforcement and has developed a special curriculum for bullpup shooting. From the press release, “The course focuses on techniques that have a broad array of applications for the bullpup system, including patrol operations, emergency response, close-quarters deployment and intermediate-range applications. The course is designed to provide a high degree of personal development topics concentrating on those areas that will enable the professional to become a more effective operator.”

Shooters who participate in Doss’ live-fire class are required to bring their own firearm, 100 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear pro, and a ball cap or any other hat with a bill. The number of seats in the class are limited, so sign up early if you’re interested.

Of course Steyr is not the only company sponsoring the Bullpup Shoot. PJA Investments, an AUG accessory company and Desert Tactical Arms, maker of one of the smallest and lightest .50 BMG bullpup sniper rifles. But Steyr is happy to be one of this year’s sponsors, now that they’re back in the American bullpup market.

“We are extremely excited to attend the 2012 Bullpup Shoot and spend some time with the ever-growing bullpup community,” said Scott O’Brien, Steyr Arms CEO. “Wes has an amazing bullpup seminar planned, and we’re grateful for him generously providing his time and knowledge to the attendees.

“This is a unique event, and it is the perfect place to debut the latest version of the AUG/A3 SA USA. And did I mention that you could win one?”

The 2012 Bullpup Shoot will take place in Park City the weekend of September 28-29 and it will take place at the Park Mammoth Resort. In addition to the shooting events, the resort hosts a 100-room lodge, a winery and a golf course. If you were looking for an excuse to take a weekend off this fall, there’s a resort in Kentucky just brimming with guns…
