Petraeus’s Mistress Featured in KRISS ARMS Promo Video

For those of you following the Gen. David Petraeus sex scandal, the gun blog, ‘The Truth About Guns’ unearthed this KRISS Arms promo video featuring the retired four-star general’s alleged mistress Paula Broadwell.

Broadwell, the West Point graduate and Ironman triathlete, appears around 1:37 in the video and is seen subsequently firing some .45 caliber rounds downrange.

During her brief appearance in the video, she underscores the importance of “human endeavor” as a means to do things that technology cannot, for example, only humans can “galvanize unity of effort,” which means to compel various organizations and departments to work together towards a similar objective.

According to media reports, Broadwell met Petraeus six years ago at Harvard’s Kennedy School when he was delivering a speech; she was working toward her master’s degree.

The two became intimately involved in 2010 when Broadwell started working on her biography of the highly-decorated military commander, entitled, “All In: The Education of General David Petraeus” (Quick aside, ABC Denver accidentally reported that the book was called “All Up in My Snatch.”  No joke.

Earlier this year while she was promoting her book, Broadwell appeared on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” and told Jon Stewart about how she connected with Petraeus on a competitive level during a run (Petraeus is known for running with journalists, a way to test their will and resolve).

“I thought I’d test him, but he was going to test me—it ended up being a test for both of us since we both ran pretty quickly,” she told Stewart. “That was the foundation of our relationship.”

Of course, we now know that the relationship blossomed into more than just running buddies or biographer/subject – something that Petraeus has told those close to him that he now regrets.

“He said, in those words, ‘I screwed up. What I did was wrong. There’s no excuses for it,'” Col. Peter Mansoor, who worked directly with Petraeus from 2006 to 2008, told CBS News. “He’s not gonna try to explain it away.”

Mansoor also commented on what appeared from the outside to be an unconventional relationship between the two, noting the unfettered access she was given to the recently resigned CIA director.

“I thought it very odd that he would allow someone to have an extended embed with him… this thing morphed incrementally over time to where she was eventually almost considered a close member of the team,” said Mansoor.

Given their intimate relationship and the fact that Broadwell was likely exposed to classified information, the FBI is currently investigating to find out if any critical intel was leaked and/or compromised due to the affair.

There’s also another side to this story developing involving Gen. John Allen, commander of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan and a woman by the name of Jill Kelley.

Apparently some inappropriate emails were exchanged.  It’s not exactly clear whether they were sexual in nature.

So, what do you make of all this?

Putting aside the personal grief that Broadwell and Petraeus caused their families (both are married with children), is it a case of ‘no harm, no foul’ as far as national security is concerned (assuming that the FBI investigation doesn’t uncover any incriminating evidence)?
