The Italian Carabinieri - Police in Capes (7 Photos)
The Carabinieri are the military police force of Italy.  They have had a long 250 plus year history in Italy where they have served in various roles.  Since 2000, when the Carabinieri officially joined the armed forces of Italy, they mainly serve in foreign peacekeeping roles.  Being Italian, the Carabinieri have a taste for the finer things in life.  The images seen in this gallery are their ceremonial outfits that include fine leather boots, capes and sashes.  A few of the officers are even allowed to drive around in Lotusâ.
