These 6.5x55mm guns have terrific ballistics, and the bullets will just go on forever and ever. Being smaller in diameter and having a higher section density, they’re not necessarily the best for close-range hunting and they’ll beat up a target if you don’t put it out there far enough.

But they are great 1,000-yard guns for milsurp.

If you’re looking for an interesting project gun, a military surplus gun that isn’t, say, a Mosin or just want to expand to a new caliber, improve your chance to find ammo in-stock, you may want to consider a Swedish Mauser.
