President Obama Claims Sandy Hook Shooter Adam Lanza Used ‘Fully Automatic Weapon’

Another law maker who doesn’t understand how firearms work has emerged, and this time it is the President.  In a private Democratic campaign event last night in San Francisco, President Obama got mixed up on what type of weapon Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza used, stating it was fully automatic.

“Now, over the next couple of months, we’ve got a couple of issues: gun control.  (Applause.)  I just came from Denver, where the issue of gun violence is something that has haunted families for way too long, and it is possible for us to create common-sense gun safety measures that respect the traditions of gun ownership in this country and hunters and sportsmen, but also make sure that we don’t have another 20 children in a classroom gunned down by a semiautomatic weapon — by a fully automatic weapon in that case, sadly.”

The full transcript can be read over on

Adam Lanza did not use an automatic weapon, he used a semiautomatic Bushmaster .223 caliber sporting rifle, a Glock 10mm handgun, and Sig-Sauer P226 9mm handgun.  This can be read online in an official CT State Police report here.

This of course comes only days after Colorado Rep. Diana DeGette (D), a lead sponsor on high capacity ban bill, stated she was unaware that magazines could be reloaded.
