72-year-old James Brady appears in new gun control advertisement (VIDEO)

Ronald Reagan’s former press secretary James Brady, who was shot and paralyzed during a 1981 assassination attempt, released a new gun control advertisement today for New Yorkers for Gun Safety. In the ad Brady appears with his wife, Sarah, who appeals for a continued effort of their 32 year mission in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting.

‘Thirty-two years ago my husband Jim was shot standing next to President Ronald Reagan. Since then we’ve dedicated our lives to meaningful gun control laws. Today, we’ve never had a better opportunity for action. Thanks to the courage and leadership of Governor Cuomo, New York state passed the strongest gun law in the country. We need Washington to show the same courage as New York. Now. Because 32 years is too long to wait.’
