Arsenal, Inc. is bringing back a rifle for a very specific market. Threading the gun control needle, the SAM7R-61N is a New Jersey-compliant AK with all the features residents of the Garden State could ask for.

Following the Bulgarian pattern, the SAM7R-61N is built on a machined hot die-forged receiver and uses a cold hammer-forged barrel made on Steyr machines.

At first blush this is not very different than your standard milled AK chambered for 7.62x39mm, but if you look closely you’ll see it comes with a permanently-attached 4-port muzzle brake and the gas tube does not have the AK barrel lug, which can be used as a bayonet mount.

Everything else is up to the Arsenal standard, including the intermediate-length trapdoor buttstock (and cleaning kit), hard-chromed barrel and chamber, side rail mount for optics and is of course 922r-compliant, ready to accept both American-made and imported magazines.

The other specifications are:

  • Overall length: 36.5 inches
  • Barrel length: 16.3 inches (18 including muzzle brake)
  • Rate of twist: 1 in 9.75 inches
  • Dry weight: eight pounds
  • Muzzle velocity: 2330 FPS
  • Effective range: 440 yards
  • Maximum range: 1475 yards

muzzleThe rifle also comes with one 10-round magazine, a sling and a bottle of oil.

About the only thing a New Jerseyan might not like about these incredibly rugged, durable rifles is the sticker; they’re a bit steep at $1,350, but you’re getting the best, and the best is tailor-made for you.
