Mexican Vigilantes BEAR ARMS in a Bid to Muzzle Crime (VIDEO)

In a bid to protect their community from the brutal machinations of warring drug cartels, one of the poorest states in Mexico has taken matters into their own hands.

Despite enduring some of the worst violence in the battle between drug cartels and Mexican authorities, the civilians of Guerrero have armed themselves with machetes, rifles and shotguns, in a desperate attempt to police their streets. Vigilante groups have spread across the nation as drug cartels continue to exercise more power than the government. Over the past five years, nearly 50,000 people have been murdered in drug-related violence in Mexico.
