Trijicon's New VCOG 1-6x24mm Riflescope

Trijicon VCOG

Combat optics giant Trijicon is launching a new, variable-power riflescope with an outstanding 1-6x magnification range. Called the VCOG for variable combat optic gunsite, the scope will be available with reticles for a variety of calibers at launch, specifically 5.56 and 7.62 NATO and 300 AAC Blackout.

The VCOG is guaranteed to be a popular riflescope, both on the commercial market and with military shooters.

Built using an extra-thick 7075-T6 aircraft aluminum tube, the riflescope has a first forward plane LED-lit reticle with holdover marks for shooting at long ranges. The riflescope uses a single AA battery to power the reticle which will last for about 700 hours with a lithium battery at medium settings. Trijicon is planning to launch the optic with seven reticle choices including different reticles for different common bullet weights of the same caliber.

As you would expect, the lenses are fully multicoated for the most possible light transmission, and the whole optic is waterproof to 20 meters. All of the controls are oversized for ease of use under all conditions. The VCOG has 90 MOA of both windage and elevation adjustment. Each click moves the reticle .5 MOA.

Another cool feature of the VCOG is that it comes with an integrated mounting system. Both standard Picatinny mounts as well as quick-detach mounts will be available.

Trijicon VCOG specs

Other specification are that the VCOG has a constant four-inch eye relief, it measures in at 10 inches long and weighs 23 ounces, mount and battery not included (so probably 26 ounces all in).

Expect to start seeing the VCOG in August of this year. About the only thing there isn’t to like about the optic is the sticker; it will have an MSRP of $2,270. Although real-world prices tend to be less, this is in-line with other 1-6x combat riflescopes, and we expect the quality to be up there.

This is a very interesting piece of glass. Sure, it’s expensive, but for those who need it, whether they’re designated marksmen, dedicated competition shooters or dedicated sportsmen, the VCOG may wind up being a must-have optic.
