Timelapse of 3D Printing a Gun (VIDEO)

Once the DoD requested the 3d printed gun files be removed from the internet, a couple things happened.

  1. The Streisand Effect went into full force. The file was shared all over and can still be found easily.
  2. I suddenly realized that I was going to be printing a 3d printed gun and doing another article on it even though I had just written an opinion piece about how I don’t care.

You know, I’m not spending much on ammo these days … I’m thinking the LulzBot TAZ is looking more and more interesting.

Seriously, as much as I’ve spoken about the 3D-printed gun, I have to admit, I had little interest in actually futzing around with one until they got banned too. I mean, I have guns that are way better, right? But now I’m already trying to justify the cost of a 3D printer.

Still, for two grand, I could also get desktop milling machine and a bunch of other tools, and make guns out of metal. Totally un-banned, boring ol’ metal guns.

Sigh.
