Former British Sniper Found Guilty of Illegally Possessing a Gun and Ammo (VIDEO)

A former sniper for the British Army Special Air Service has been found guilty by a military court this week of illegally possessing a Glock 9mm semiautomatic pistol and 338 rounds of ammunition. Sgt Danny Nightingale denies the allegations and asserts that the gun, which was allegedly brought back to the UK from Iraq, belongs to his housemate, who is currently serving two years of military detention for possessing a similar Glock.

Nightingale originally pleaded guilty to the charges in November of last year. Three weeks into serving his 18-month sentence, he was released after more than 100,000 people signed a petition calling for him to be freed and appeal judges determined that he had been pressured into pleading guilty.

Nightingale apparently suffers from an unusual brain injury which impairs his memory and sometimes causes him to fabricate what he believes to be accurate memories. According to his wife, Sally, β€œIt was only when we were talking about the case we found out the [true] story.” She adds that with his condition β€œhe still struggles on a day to day basis.”

Nightingale, a decorated soldier, only wants to clear his name. β€œHe is not guilty. He is not a criminal,” his wife states.
