ATI’s GSG MP40, the quintessential bad-guy gun
Finally WWII collectors won’t have to break the bank to get their mits on a faux WWII stamped metal subgun.
If you’ve ever wondered what it felt like to chase a whip-wielding archaeologist around the Valley of the Kings, the Von Strapps across Europe, or gun down a tavern full of intoxicated SS officers, you’re in luck. ATI announced its rendition of the MP-40 at the 2014 SHOT Show.
Attention to detail – The MP40’s furniture is made of actual Bakelite
Modeled after the submachine gun of the same name, ATI’s version is chambered in .22 LR rather than 9mm parabellum and includes a faux suppressor to help meet the Federal minimum barrel length requirements.
The GSG MP40 is constructed of all metal components and features a classic underfolding stock. It weighs in at 9 pounds just like the real thing and comes with 10-, 25- and 28-round magazines.
Staying true to the original design, ATI’s GSG MP40 furniture is constructed from Bakelite, a polymer designed in the 1920s. It operates by direct-blowback and features a 16-inch barrel.
Like the MP44 that ATI released 2 years ago, it ships in a wooden crate with the company’s logo emblazoned on it. The MSRP has not been released yet, but the rifle is set to ship March 2014.
