Man shoots himself in leg moments after leaving firearms safety class


Eric Morkert accidentally shot himself in the leg just moments after leaving a gun safety class.

A Florida man shot himself in the leg just moments after leaving a firearms safety class earlier this month.

Boynton Beach police discovered Eric Morkert bleeding from the bed of his pickup truck He told officers he had accidentally shot himself in the leg while inspecting his Glock 17, First Coast News reports.

Morkert had removed the magazine from his firearm and was manipulating the slide when he negligently fired a single round into his right leg.

He was treated by fire-rescue on the scene before being taken to Delray Community Hospital.

Police relieved Morkert of his weapon.
