‘Black Business: Modern Day Yakuza’ short film (VIDEO)

“Black Business: Modern Day Yakuza,” is a short film that explores some of the inner workings of the modern day Yakuza.

Directed by Luke Huxham, the film follows Shouta, a member of the Yakuza who runs a casino in Macau and occasionally “removes” someone. Shouta explains the Yakuza has ties with not only the police, but also politicians, according to the video posted to YouTube.

The everyday citizens of Japan aren’t affected by the Yakuza, but those who do business with them know they prosper from violence and the threat of violence.

So “forget what you think you know, Japan is not all smiles and friendly customer service.”
