Cauterizing any wound should be reserved for life and death situations where bleeding out is a real possibility. Otherwise, the injury is far more susceptible to infection.

While pouring gun powder in an open wound and catching it fire may have worked for Rambo, mileage varies and it’s safe to say it should only be used as a last, last resort.
