LaPierre at NRA convention: Don't trust the national media! (VIDEO)

While former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is the target of much of the fire and brimstone spewing forth from National Rife Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, the head of the nation’s gun lobby had an extra dose of ire for “media elites.”

In his speech at the at the NRA’s 143rd Annual Meetings and Exhibits at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis, LaPierre blasted the mainstream media, accusing it of outright lying to the public it is supposed to serve.

“The media elites whitewash it all.” LaPierre said, in reference to scandals connected to the Obama administration, i.e Solyndra, Benghazi, Operation Fast and Furious. “‘Move on,’ they tell us. ‘There’s nothing to see here.’”

“The media’s intentional corruption of the truth is an abomination,” he continued. “And NRA members, we will never submit and surrender to the national media, I promise you that.”

LaPierre’s beef with the media is nothing new. Back in March, at the American Conservative Union’s 2014 Political Action Conference held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, LaPierre gave virtually the same speech.

“Political dishonesty and media dishonesty have linked together, joined forces, to misinform and deceive the American public,” LaPierre said at CPAC. “Let’s be straight about it — the political and media elites are lying to us.”

“They lie bills into law,” he continued. “They pass legislation they haven’t even read, yet eagerly defend on television. Health care policies, economic policies, foreign affairs all seem repeatedly reckless.”

To substantiate his claim, LaPierre — in both speeches — threw out this jab, “Here’s how you know the media is lying. They still call themselves ‘journalists.'”

Perhaps the media is deliberately lying to the American public to foist a gun-grabbing agenda or perhaps LaPierre is being overly sensitive to his critics in the press, which to be honest, he has more than a handful, but whatever the case may be the fact remains that LaPierre is still at the helm of the most powerful and effective lobby in Washington, D.C., he’s still beloved by the NRA faithful and, as he’s stated on multiple occasions, he is still willing to stand and fight for the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners.

All of which, one can certainly argue, is good for those citizens who value their right to keep and bear arms.

As for his response to Bloomberg’s $50 million cash injection into his newly retitled gun-control organization Everytown for Gun Safety, Lapierre referred to the NRA’s fund-raising slogan for the event, “Bloomberg is one guy with Millions. We’re millions with our 25 bucks.”
