MPA Gen II MPAR rifle released along with limited-edition Mini-9 (VIDEO)

MasterPiece Arms has been working on a series of changes to its MPAR rifle and are now releasing a Gen II version of the semi-automatic rifle. At the same time MPA is happy to announced a limited-edition MPA930SST Mini-9 pistol.

The MPAR is an updated, modernized version of the Leader T2, a somewhat obscure rifle that draws on some elements of ArmaLite designs. Likewise the MPA930SST is an modern take on the Ingram MAC pistols. Both have been updated with features no 21st century firearm should be without.

The MPAR is an alternative to common AR-15-pattern rifles. A short-stroke piston-driven rifle chambered for 5.56 NATO/.223 Remington, the design runs cooler and cleaner than direct impingement rifles and does not use a buffer system. This allows MasterPiece Arms to go with a side-folding stock on the MPAR. The MPAR uses a tubular stock and accepts AR buttstocks along with a handful of other parts, including magazines, pistol grips and fire control group components.

Changes to the Gen II MPAR include an adjustable, four-position gas block with settings for standard, over- and under-gassed operation and single-shot for maximum sound suppression. The rifle maintains the non-reciprocating side charging handle that can be used as a forward assist.

Even though the MPAR Gen II uses a piston system the flattop rail is the standard AR height and can be used with widely-available AR sights, optics and other accessories. The updated handguard is extruded aluminum and can be fit with sling quick-detach sling swivel mounts.

The Gen II rifle also has a new, redesigned 3-baffle muzzle break. All the major rifle components including the barrel are made in-house by MasterPiece Arms.

The Gen II MPAR is priced fairly competitively at $1,089. The price of 5.56/.223 Gen I MPARs has been dropped to $950 for carbines and $877 for pistols. All the specifications and options can be found on the MPAR product page.

MPA930sst-SE-2014The MPA930SST Mini-9 is more than just a MAC clone. Based on the other MPA pistols and carbines the MPA930SST sports a handful of features, including a traditional safety selector and paddle-style magazine release, that make it easier to handle and use.

The limited-edition model features a two-tone Cerakote finish using matte black and flat dark earth, including the updated ergonomic pistol grip and barrel extension. The MPA930SST is equipped with a match-grade barrel and muzzle break for optimal accuracy and muzzle control.

Like other MPA pistols the MPA930SST Mini-9 features a side charging handle and a Picatinny-railed flattop receiver that’s good to go for use with red dots and other handgun optics.

The MPA930SST is fit a quick-detach sling bracket and is engraved with the pistol’s individual number. Only 100 of these guns will be made.

Each MPA930SST comes with a 30-round detachable 9mm magazine, sling, MPA pistol tool kit and certificate of authenticity.

For being special-edition pistols they’re certainly priced right at only $549. If you’re looking for something a little different for your next firearm you might want to check them out. Head over to the product page for more details.
