What it looks like to detonate 100 tons of TNT (VIDEO)

A group of scientists detonated 100 tons of TNT in the middle of nowhere in the name of science. While the detonation took place back in 2006, itโ€™s still an awesome video that captures both the explosion and subsequent shock wave.

The Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization has microphones placed thousands of miles away from the detonation. The microphones record the shock wave, and then that data is used to better detect rogue nuclear explosions.

Thank you, science.
