Good Samaritans thwart would-be carjacker holding mother at gunpoint (VIDEO)

A man tried to carjack a mother and her daughter at gunpoint in  San Diego on Sunday, but a group of good Samaritans stepped in and saved the day.

Ismael Hernandez, 21, forced his way into the driver’s seat of a minivan. He tried driving the vehicle away with the mother and daughter still inside, but didn’t make it far before hitting a pole. That’s when bystanders rushed over and ripped Hernandez out of the car, the local ABC-affiliate reports.

The good Samaritans held Hernandez until San Diego police officers arrived. Hernandez continued resisting and the good Samaritans stepped in once again.

Hernandez was arrested and charged with attempted carjacking, attempted kidnapping, and attempted auto theft. He was booked into the San Diego Jail.
