Israel stopped a potential terror attack Thursday when they eliminated over a dozen Palestinian infiltrators emerging from a tunnel near the Gaza border.
Thirteen armed Palestinians snuck into Israel using a network of underground channels during a pre-dawn mission. They were nearly 750 feet inside the country when “different sensors” detected their presence. Israel responded with force, Times of Israel reports.
Israeli aircraft opened fire from above. Some of the Palestinians were hit, but others fled back into the tunnels. Even still, Lt. Col Peter Lerner said the Israel Defense Force’s actions were “obviously a huge success.”
Israeli military sources believe the gunmen planned to enter the kibbutz and kill or kidnap civilians.
The IDF released footage of the attack just hours after it happened.
