ATF, Florida and other federal agencies arrest 16 for gun and drug operation

In a collaborative effort with numerous state and federal law enforcement agencies, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives squashed a Florida gun and drug trafficking operation July 17.

“Today, we announce the results of the most recent partnership between federal and state law enforcement to combat violent crime in our communities,” U.S. Attorney Wifredo A. Ferrer said. “The goal of the Violence Reduction Partnership is to help neighborhoods plagued with violent crime shake off the cycle of violence and make those neighborhoods safer for all residents.”

The ATF worked alongside the U.S. Marshal’s Sercvice, U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Broward County Sheriff’s Office to seize 10 guns, including a short-barreled rifle, 45 grams of coke, 16 grams of crack, 95 grams of Molly (the powder form of MDMA) and 149 grams of marijuana. And they also arrested 16 individuals on federal and state gun and drug charges.

“The results of this investigation clearly illustrate that we remain committed to this comprehensive approach,” Ferrer said.

Three of the people arrested were named in criminal complaints dated July 1 that have recently been unsealed.

Freddy Lee Gardener, 49, was charged with being an armed career criminal in possession of a firearm. Kasheem antonio Saddoo, 23, was charged with possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. And Antonio James, 19, was charged with possession of a short barreled rifle.
