MPA Bolt-Action Rifle now available in 6 and 6.5mm calibers

MasterPiece Arms, better known for its MPA MAC and MPAR firearms and budding line of suppressors, is expanding its catalog of bolt-action to include 6mm and 6.5mm calibers with the MPA 6mmBA Bolt Action Rifle and the MPA6.5mmBA Bolt Action Rifle.

Initially launched in .308 Winchester, the company is adding a good spread of 6mm and 6.5mm calibers, not limited to but including 6.5mm Lapua, 6mm Creedmoor, .243 Winchester, 6.5 Grendel and .260 Remington.

As these rifles are entirely built to order customers can select from a wide variety of chamberings, with current available options a phone call away.

MasterPiece Arms Bolt-Action Rifle is intended to be one of the best out of the box, with a 0.5 MOA guarantee — and that’s using the factory V-bedding. The chassis is inlet to allow for custom glass bedding as well.

The rifles are built using an in-house manufacture MPA chassis, a Stiller’s Precision TAC Series action and a Spencer barrel hand-lapped by MPA. The barrel is 416 stainless steel and is pull-button rifled via CNC machining.

The barrel is then Cress Vacuum Furnace-relieved and polished to eliminate all tooling marks. They are then inspected with a Sheffield air gauge to ensure that they are in tolerance to within one one-thousandth of an inch.

Likewise the actions have recoil lugs that are machined to one one-thousandth of an inch clearances to ensure that they are level and parallel. Every action is machined from heat-treated stainless steel and along with the 4140 steel bolt, lug and handle.

MPA Bolt-Action Rifles feature spiral-fluted bolts, which are also hand-lapped and individually-fitted to every action. The bolts and barrels have a black nitride finish for corrosion resistance and added wear resistance.

These guns come with a choice of triggers with the Timney 510 as the default and either a “tacticalt” or “bench rest” muzzle brake.

At a list price of $3,250 they are undercutting the market by a fair chunk of change. While they aren’t truly custom rifles as they are all individually-fit and built to order the MPA Bolt-Action Rifles, regardless of caliber, are an appealing way to enter the precision shooting market without paying thousands of dollars more.
