Aero Precision is now offering a complete line of AR-style .308 Winchester rifles with its new M5 series. To mark the occasion it’s giving away the very first production M5 rifle, serial number US00001, valued at more than $2,500.

The M5 series is currently made up of six .308 models with rifle- and carbine-length barrels. M5s are offered with 16-, 18- and 20-inch barrels with a standard matte black anodized finish or with a flat dark earth Cerakote finish.

Serial no. 1, the gun being given away, is a matte black model with a 16-inch barrel and 12-inch free-floating KeyMod handguard and a ton of upgrades, starting with a Magpul STR stock, 10- or 25-round PMAG magazine and BCM pistol grip.

Instead of the standard A2-style flash hider the M5 featured in the giveaway comes with a SilencerCo Saker Trifecta muzzle brake and the fire control group is upgraded with a Geissele trigger and a BAD-ASS ambidextrous safety selector.

Topping it all off is a Vortex Viper PST 1-4x scope for fast, short- to medium-range shooting. The Viper is mounted with Aero’s own 30mm extended scope mount.

Although the rifle touted in the promo is nicely decked-out, the floor model M5 rifles and carbines are no slouches when it comes to features, either.

All the current M5 rifles sport M5E1 upper receivers and 6061-T6 aluminum alloy free-floating KeyMod handguards. The handguards have a full-length 12-o’clock Picatinny rail and KeyMod slots at the three-, six- and nine-o’clock positions for expansion rails and direct-mount accessories.

They are built around DPMS-pattern forged 7075-T6 hard-anodized alloy receivers that follow or exceed MIL-SPEC standards wherever possible.

All come with Magpul pistol grips and stocks, PRS stocks on 18- and 20-inch models and collapsible STR stocks on the 16-inch carbine.

The 16-inch models sport 12-inch handguards while the 18- and 20-inch versions come with longer 15-inch handguards, standard. They’re direct-impingement rifles with low-profile gas blocks and a standard forward assist.

What makes these guns really stand out in the rapidly-growing AR-10-style rifle market is their prices. With suggested retail prices starting at $1,499 the Aero Precision M5 is one of the more approachable .308 rifle series out there.
