Family dog finds skull of missing child sex offender (VIDEO)

The search for a convicted child sex offender who had been missing for more than a year is now over. U.S. Marshals confirmed that a human skull found by a dog in an Austin, Texas field in September is that of Kevin Patrick Stoeser.

Stoeser, a former Army specialist, served 13 years in prison after pleading guilty to numerous sex crimes, including sodomy, production of child pornography and forcible rape. He was responsible for sexually assaulting at least five girls between the ages of 12 and 16 while stationed at Fort Hood.

Stoeser went missing from a half-way house last October, sparking a massive manhunt and earning him a spot on the U.S. Marshal’s top 15 most wanted fugitives.

On Sept. 8, a Golden Retriever who, according to her owners, is notorious for “bringing things home,” showed up with the skull and U.S. Marshals confirmed Monday that the skull was in fact Stoeser’s.

No other remains were found, but authorities say the skull appeared to be “weathered.” Austin Police said the area experienced a flood right around the time Stoeser disappeared and it’s possible he may have drowned. However, with only a skull and no noticeable trauma to it, it’s nearly impossible to determine the cause of death.
