CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1 pistol headed to U.S. shores (VIDEO)

CZ-USA softly dropped a bombshell this week with the announcement that the CZ Scorpion EVO 3 pistol has landed stateside and will be available on the consumer market for 2015.

In a hands-on demonstration with National Rifle Association spokesman Colion Noir, CZ-USA goes over the basics of the Scorpion, and its predecessor, the Skorpion, submachine guns developed for military and police use by the peerless Czech small arms masters.

While it is new in the grand scheme of things, it’s been in the hands of professionals for a few years now. What is new is the fact that CZ-USA has developed a commercial variant of the gun and is delivering it to the U.S. in the form of a wonderful little pistol.

It is a semi-automatic version of the submachine gun without a stock and it’s destined for stores starting next year.

“Finally available for public consumption is the much anticipated Scorpion sub-gun. Imported as a pistol, it is a blowback-operated semi-auto in 9mm with a short 7.75-inch barrel,” reads the Scorpion pistol product page. “Equipped with our newly designed low-profile sights, its rear sight has four different aperture sizes for everything from close quarters to way out there.”

This is one pistol gun lovers everywhere are going to want to get behind. It’s a very modern design with integral quad rails including a full-length flattop rail for all types of optics.

It’s designed to be easy to break down and clean and is very lefty-friendly with its ambidextrous safety, magazine release and reversible non-reciprocating charging handle.

In addition to the low-profile sights the Scorpion EVO pistol is equipped with a birdcage flash hider that will take care of hotter 9mm loads and a removable Picatinny hand stop.

The rear of the receiver is fit with a single-point sling for ease of carry and rapid deployment. Combined with the hand stop it should be an easy pistol to use and shoot with accuracy.

As far as pistol braces are concerned, CZ is staying ahead of the game and will have an AR pistol buffer tube adapter as an option for Scorpion owners when the pistol hits the market.

Apart from the contemporary design, good looks and flawless pedigree the Scorpion EVO 3 pistol has another great thing going for it, the price.

CZ-USA has set the MSRP for this pistol at a paltry $849. It’s not the very cheapest 9mm pistol of its kind but it’s close to it.

Honestly CZ-USA could have priced this much higher and the Scorpion would still be competitive; but affordability and accessibility has always been a hallmark of CZ firearms and the new Scorpion EVO 3 is no different.

Other details including specifications aren’t completely available yet, although since we’ve got the price tag the rest doesn’t seem that important. CZ-USA has a product page up that should have more info down the road when the pistol hits the market.

This is a huge win for CZ fans across the country, and we can’t wait to pull the trigger on one for ourselves.
